There was a time when fabric and garment were very precious and hard to get. People who lived in north part of Japan needed to repair or mend for their garment and make protect from cold season. They stitched several layers of cloth carefully stitch by stitch. Sashiko is a technique that was born from this and nowadays become one of traditional handicraft which was born from taking good care of things and the wisdom of life.
